Advantages of Garbage Truck

01/

Efficient Waste Collection: Garbage trucks are designed for efficient waste collection, helping to keep communities clean and hygienic.

02/

Maximising Payload: The hydraulic compactors in rear-loader trucks and the loading mechanisms in front-loader trucks help maximise the amount of waste that can be transported in a single trip, reducing the need for frequent trips to disposal sites.

03/

Versatility: Different types of garbage trucks cater to various waste management needs, ensuring that waste is collected from a wide range of sources, from residential areas to industrial sites.

04/

Reduction Of Manual Labor: Automated garbage trucks equipped with mechanical arms or grabbers reduce the physical strain on waste collectors, making the job safer and more efficient.

05/

Environmental Benefits: Some garbage trucks are powered by alternative fuels like natural gas or electricity, reducing their carbon footprint and contributing to a cleaner environment.

06/

Safety: Garbage trucks are equipped with safety features to protect both the operators and the public, such as backup cameras and warning lights.

Types of Garbage Truck

CLW Skip - Loader Garbage Truck

Rear-loader Garbage Trucks: Rear-loader garbage trucks are frequently used for residential waste collection. They feature a hydraulic compactor at the rear of the truck that compresses the collected waste to maximise capacity.

Front-loader Garbage Trucks: Front-loader garbage trucks are commonly used for commercial and industrial waste collection. They feature a large front-loading bucket that can lift and empty dumpsters and large containers into the truck's storage area.

Side-loader Garbage Trucks: Side-loader garbage trucks are versatile vehicles that can pick up waste from both sides of the road without the need to turn around. They are often used in urban areas with narrow streets and limited space for manoeuvring.

Roll-off Garbage Trucks: Roll-off garbage trucks are designed for transporting large, open-top containers known as roll-off containers or dumpsters. These containers are commonly used in construction and demolition sites, as well as for commercial waste disposal.

Grapple Trucks: Grapple trucks are employed for collecting large and bulky items such as furniture, appliances, and tree branches. They feature a claw-like attachment known as a grapple that can grasp and lift heavy objects into the truck's storage area.

Compact Garbage Trucks: Compact garbage trucks, also known as mini garbage trucks or mini-loaders, are smaller in size and are ideal for navigating tight spaces such as narrow alleys and residential neighbourhoods.

Specialised Waste Trucks: Specialised waste trucks are specifically designed to collect underground refuse bins. They are equipped with refuse truck bodies and feature a 400-degree rotating crane capable of collecting waste within a 300-degree angle from its slewing point, depositing it into an extended hopper.

Hook Lift Garbage Truck: Hook lift garbage trucks are designed to meet diverse customer needs, making them ideal for narrow streets and inaccessible areas. They integrate loading, transportation, and self-unloading functionalities, ensuring simple and convenient operation without auxiliary equipment.

Precautions for Use Garbage Truck

One of the most important ways to ensure a low-risk workplace is by conducting regular safety training for drivers and other personnel. Drivers must be trained on safe driving practices, proper vehicle operation, and handling of waste.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is essential for the safety of the crew. All drivers should be equipped with PPE such as vests, gloves, hard helmets, and masks. By spending five to ten minutes examining their trucks before starting their routes, garbage truck drivers and companies can minimize their risks. Drivers should test the brakes, tires, lights, and other vital components before starting the vehicle to verify they are in good working order. One of the most high-risk aspects of garbage truck operation is backing up. When backing up, drivers must make sure there are no people or other obstructions in their path.

Production Process of Garbage Truck

Making the body shell

All the sides, top, rear, and body floor parts are cut, curved, and bent first. Two pieces of all these parts are sent to the sub-assembly area to weld together. Once the welding is complete, the sides of the truck are positioned on the sides of the body floor. The front and rear parts are added next to make the unit look like an empty box.

Installing the subassemblies

The operating parts of the truck are welded and installed in the next stage. Some of the components included in this process are packer blades, hopper cover, lift arms, front and rear torque cubes, fork assembly, and the tailgate.

Finishing the body

Once the operating parts are installed, the body lights are connected using electrical wiring. The engine sits in the front panel. The entire structure is now ready, and the body and chassis properly modified. They are slowly lifted and bolted in the truck frame rails.

FAQ

Q: What is the most common type of garbage truck?

A: Automated trucks are one of the more common garbage trucks in residential areas because they can be run by a single operator and are fast and efficient. This truck is probably the type of truck that visits your neighborhood.

Q: How powerful are garbage trucks?

A: The force of a standard garbage truck compactor is approximately 2,750 psi (pounds per square inch).

Q: How fast can a garbage truck go?

A: The trucks, which store energy using liquid tanks, use a diesel motor to charge the tanks when the truck is first turned on and also to travel at speeds faster than 45 mph. Once the truck is moving, though, brake energy is stored in the tanks. Trash trucks, when it comes to fuel, can be a big waste.

Q: What are the advantages of garbage trucks?

A: The use of garbage trucks provides several advantages that contribute to effective waste management: Efficient Waste Collection: Garbage trucks are designed for efficient waste collection, helping to keep communities clean and hygienic.

Q: Do they clean garbage trucks?

A: It takes complex and versatile equipment to wash, clean and disinfect these behemoths. Generally, a garbage truck is washed every 3 days, some daily. Most commonly they are washed after their shift, once the vehicle is back at the lot. This way, they're clean and ready to do their job the following day.

Q: How big is a garbage truck?

A: Total body length: 262 (20 yd) – 294 inches (25 yd) Overall width: 102 inches.

Q: What powers a garbage truck?

A: Refuse trucks are conventionally fueled by diesel, with some natural gas adoption. Since refuse trucks typically operate in or near residential areas on a regular basis, tailpipe emissions can negatively affect residents.

Q: Are garbage trucks automatic or manual?

A: The automated side loaders (ASL) are more efficient between the two, and they can serve up to 1,500 homes a day. Also, these are known to reduce on-the-job injuries significantly. At the same time, the manual side loaders are still widely used because of their ability to go into areas where ASL models can't.

Q: Do garbage trucks leak?

A: The working hydraulic pressure used for compaction has also increased over the last few years. The hopper juice leaks out of the trucks because the rear seals of the truck box leak, bungs in the truck box are missing or leak or the hopper juice rises above the height of the seals.
